tying it all together

What does the knighthood story have to do with the untimely death of Jef Raskin. Go look up Gresham's Law.

Now go look look up ffej's second law of computing. No wait, I'll save you the trouble (and I can't remember if I've posted it here before). Bad interfaces drive out good ones. Gates drives out Raskin, getting it out the door (almost) always beats taking the time to get it done right. Compare and contrast with Sturgeon's Law (99.9% of everything is shit). Extra points for quoting Gump.

What we need is something on the international level. Something like John Perry Barlow's "A Declaration of the Independence of Cyberspace" mashed up with Stallman. What we need is a Bill of Rights of User Interfaces. Here's a start, needs more polish though.

Your tools exist to make your job easier for you.

You have the right to do things your way, and not be forced into a single methodolgy.

Customization and scriptability are mandatory, not optional.
