the straight spun dope on the bean

The Chicagoist claims to have the straight dope on the Bean permit/copyright fiasco. Read it and see if it bears any resemblance to what you've heard or were told. (I've called the city twice and been told two completely different things, and been told seven other things by everyone from the great satan to the cop in front of the construction tent).

(Am I the only person to notice the fiasco started weeks after the Bean went under cover for it's finishing touches--i'm almost certain not even my father the scaffolding maven wants a photo of the Bean in it's current state.)
