more m$ skullduggery
Newly Released Documents Shed Light on Microsoft Tactics In a lot of ways this is old news, as M$ tries to spin it, but then everything old is new again. This documents testimony of M$'s destruction of Go in the early 90s for the Minnesota class action lawsuit against M$. (if you don't want to do the NY times free registration yourself, scroll down to the bottom of Macintouch, buy the book Startup by one of the founders of Go)
Add to this the decision on the part of the DVD manufacturers to include support for the M$ vc-9 codec in the successor to the current DVD format. Which means now the DVD player manufacturers will have to pay the M$ tax.

a word about registering at sites like NY times. Why would you, when there is http://bugmenot.com a handy site which which allows users to find user names and passwords for most such sites? If you find that there is no uname or password, they encourage you to create one and post it. If you are worried about posting an account that has your live email address, create a (very) temprorary one at mailinator.com.
i can't remember where I found these gems, but I have found them useful. Well worth bookmarking for those of us who might *not* wish to share too much personal info these days.
