damn me and my shut mouth
all last week i kept saying to myself, where's MS? when does MS anounce they're buying SCO? shoulda posted.
today they anouncecd that they're licensing SCO code and patents. another vehicle for FUD? will history bite some ones ass as hinted at here? the real story of the last unix wars can''t be told, as per seal. and it puts ibm in the amusing position of playing the other side in this iteration. one of the conditions of the last war was that BSD had to be made clean, with no att code, so raymond is wrong here. but at least these articles point out that the story is way thicker then the simple question of intellectual property. Eric Raymond weighs in..

Ah, for the days when the Sherman Act actually meant something (i.e., before it was virtually interpreted out of existence by Reaganite judges.)
