What were you smoking? That wasn't me, and that wasn't your face. That was Dick Guzzinnia, and the other end.

Apple has unveiled its much vaunted Music Store:

Friday's WSJ had a big story on it too, but it's accessible only to subscribers.

An excerpt:

Jobs has spent considerable time backpedaling from the company's onetime marketing slogan, "Rip. Mix. Burn." That earlier advertising campaign had angered record executives, but on Monday the Apple CEO put forward an antipiracy face, criticizing free file-swapping programs.

"On the good side, (services like Kazaa) are instant gratification, showing the Net was built for music distribution," Jobs said. "On the downside, it is stealing, and it's best not to mess with karma."

Hey I live in Pilsen and I am a tenant of Podmajersky Senior. I recently learned that their new bookkeeper that has taken over is also the long time bookkeeper of Junior. This kinda scares me... Do you think our rents will suddenly be jacked up or people that my have delayed occasional payment of rent will get the boot? I am probably being paranoid.

hi Pamula,
i'm a homeless person on the northside who was driven out of pilsen a year ago by the slumlords that are now gentrifying the hood. i couldn't give a shit about you or your rent, and neither does your landlord, or his offspring. you are not the Cullens. they matter. i was going to post some of the rumours and shit going down in pilsen, but then i realized yesterday what they were: a cleverly orchestrated FUD campaign by a fairly clever landlord. it kept you all busy until a good plausable reason to jack your rent and evict you was found.

now, assuming you are a real person and not a nice little dissinformation purveying alias, i'd just go back to school and get a degree in law. because unless you're making a lawyer salery, or own a business, are a trust fund baby, have recently recieved an insurence or legal settlement or inherited some money, you aren't going to be able to live in pilsen or chicago too much longer.

check the title of this blog tommorow. you won't find pilsen in it. i've been told several times this week by people ranging from erstwhile community leaders to the man in the street that Pilsen Is Over. so go try evergreen park.

(if you are offended and a real person, too bad. learn to deal with it. you have no rights. you have no recourse, and you weren't born lucky. least a ways that's what i've heard all week while feeling out the rumours.)

So you are homeless on the North Side... Do you live in a refridgerator box? Rent a room at the Y? How do you keep your computer from being stolen?

Evergreen Park and Beverly in my experience are equally expensive as Lincoln Park.

Thank you for the very emotional reply regarding gobalization and gentrification. And I will take it to heart in a few months when lease renewl comes time.

i sleep on my computer. it makes a comfy pillow.
and your very welcome. please continue to enjoy the confusion between globalization and gentrification. indian children picking and grinding spice by hand for a quarter a week is a victim of globalization. the landlord who pitches out the latino family to rehab and rent to a yuppie condiment exec is engaged in gentrification

Ouch, that's going to leave a mark. If you get a rash I'm sure they make a cream for that. Remember class using buzz words you're unfamiliar with can bite you in the ass later.
